Infiniti Posts Year-to-Date Increase of 19.4 Percent

    CARSON, Calif., Sept. 3 -- Infiniti, the luxury division of
Nissan Motor Corporation U.S.A., recorded a 19.4 percent increase in calendar
year-to-date sales.  Total vehicle sales for CY97 were 43,068 units.  The
Division closed August with a total of 5,961 sales.
    August sales of the redesigned Q45, Infiniti's flagship luxury performance
sedan, reached 936 units, up 10.7 percent from July.  The QX4 luxury sport
utility vehicle turned in sales of 1,438 units.  QX4 calendar year-to-date
sales totaled 11,252.  Infiniti's I30 luxury sedan led volume sales with 3,213
units, up 18.6 percent versus the same period last year.  The J30 personal
luxury sedan posted sales of 373 units.
    Total Nissan Motor Corporation U.S.A. sales for August, including Nissan
and Infiniti Divisions, were 69,171 units, an increase of 10 percent from
July.  Combined calendar year-to-date sales for Nissan and Infiniti Divisions
were 519,476.
