World's Automakers Cite Global Market Emergence of Electric Vehicles To the Washington Media, Reports Electric Vehicle Association of the AmericasWASHINGTON, Sept. 17 -- The world's largest automakers met today with members of the Washington D.C. media to highlight their commitment to the emerging global market of electric vehicles and the significance of the upcoming 14th International Electric Vehicle Symposium (EVS-14). The automakers announced that they would unveil several new electric, hybrid and fuel cell vehicle products at EVS-14. "In December, the world's largest automakers, electric utilities and EV industry stakeholders will be in Orlando to show off the clean electric vehicles they're introducing to the market" says Robert Hayden, executive director of the Electric Vehicle Association of the Americas (EVAA). "EVS-14 is important because it brings together all the key players who will lead the industry into the next century." The Washington Automotive Press Association (WAPA) is the largest automotive media organization in the country. Hayden spoke to WAPA members today at a luncheon at the National Press Club. He was joined by EV program managers and directors from Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Nissan and Toyota. He was also joined by the president of Edison EV, the nation's largest provider of EV charging stations. EVS-14 will bring together more than 2,000 top EV experts from around the world to discuss automotive design and technology advancements, infrastructure development and solutions to global commercialization issues. EVS-14 will have more than 100 exhibitors and more electric vehicles available to test drive than ever before at any other gathering in the world. In addition to the three-day symposium, this year's event will include a 20-vehicle EV motorcade at Epcot, public days at the exposition hall and a media day on December 12.
