United Recyclers Group Introduces New Damage Standard

FLORENCE, Ala., Sept. 29 -- United Recyclers Group, LLC (URG)
recently introduced the "URG Damage Standard" card. This handy device, the
size of a standard credit card, will allow all URG members to have a reliable,
consistent measuring system. In August 1997 URG distributed over 20,000 of
the cards free in August 1997 and plans to continue distribution over the next
twelve months.
URG recognized the absence of a measuring standard for the collision
repair, insurance, and auto recycling industries. Appraisers, collision shops
and parts suppliers routinely encounter situations where all parities do not
agree on the number of hours necessary to repair damage. Use of the URG
Damage Standard Card removes all subjectiveness from the appraisal process,
providing all parties with an objective standard.
United Recyclers is a group of over 200+ Automotive recyclers in North
America, representing over $500 million in annual sales. Ed Lacy, a URG
manager said, "URG is excited about pioneering this new standard. This is a
great milestone for the collision repair and related industries." Lacy is one
of only two gold class ICAR certified automotive recyclers in North America.
ICAR is the recognized standard for training and procedures to the collision
repairs in North America.
The card also includes a handy year vin identifier (the 10th digit of an
automobile serial number reveals the year model) which all users can utilize.
The card has been offered free to other industry participants and trade
groups.
URG will continue to offer the card free, while supplies last, to
interested parties.
