                 Timken Takes Functionality to the Web

    CANTON, Ohio, Oct. 1 -- The Timken Company has
launched an innovative presence on the Worldwide Web, that offers customers,
shareholders and other interested constituents around the world the
opportunity to interact one-on-one with Timken.
     Timken rolled out its corporate web site at http://www.timken.com.  The
site features a wealth of information about the company, its products,
investing in Timken and employment opportunities.  In addition, search
features assist customers and end users in finding the exact product or
service they need.
    "Our goal in developing this web site has been to add value to our
relationships with our existing and potential customers, distributors,
shareholders and future associates," said Tom Strouble, vice president -
technology, "And to deliver instantaneously a wide variety of useful
information from the vast resources of The Timken Company."
    Around the globe, the worldwide web is being heralded as one of the most
efficient means of doing business today.
    "Whether a prospect or a customer needs product information, a shareholder
wants the latest company news or an end-user needs to know about a specific
 Timken bearing or steel application, http://www.timken.com is an ever-evolving medium
that can address their immediate needs," said Strouble.
    The launch of the site includes company news and descriptions of Timken
products and services.  It also offers users access to product specification
data, serving as a time-saving utility for Timken customers.  Future plans for
the site include continuous enhancement and additional functionality, based on
feedback from the site's users.  This will include providing content in
multiple languages to serve customers around the world.
    "The potential of the Timken web site is restricted only by the available
technology," said Strouble.  "This site reaffirms Timken's leadership position
