Avis Statement RE: Pennsylvania Lawsuit

    GARDEN CITY, N.Y., Oct. 14 -- In response to the lawsuit
filed by the Attorney General of Pennsylvania, Avis issued the
following statement:

    We have just received this information in connection with this lawsuit.
Avis denies the allegations against it.
    Avis has an unequivocal policy against discrimination of any kind and does
not deny or limit car rentals based on race, religion, national origin or
other group affiliations.
    According to LeRoy S. Zimmerman, former Attorney General of Pennsylvania
and a partner with Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott, Harrisburg, PA., who is
serving as Avis' outside counsel, "While we cannot comment further on any
allegations in the litigation, we hope we can get this matter resolved
promptly with the Attorney General."
