Hertz to Rebrand Local and Insurance Replacement Car Rental Business 'Hertz Local Edition'

PARK RIDGE, N.J., Oct. 20 -- The Hertz Corporation
, the world's largest car rental company, announced that, starting
in January 1998, it will rebrand its local and insurance replacement car
rental locations Hertz Local Edition Car Rental.
Begun as a pilot project in 1995, this segment of the Hertz car rental
business, operating under the acronym H.I.R.E. -- Hertz Insurance Replacement
Entity -- has opened 70 suburban locations in the New England, Los Angeles,
Dallas and Denver areas.
"The new name is intended to leverage the strength of the Hertz brand
while positioning Hertz Local Edition as a competitor in the local car rental
market," said Joseph R. Nothwang, Executive Vice President for Hertz U.S. Rent
A Car Division.
Headquartered in Park Ridge, N.J., Hertz operates from approximately 5,500
