Nissan Launches New 1998 Frontier With Reduced Prices, More Equipment Than Previous Truck

                    Frontier Goes On-Sale Nationwide Today

CARSON, Calif., Oct. 27 -- Nissan Motor Corporation U.S.A.
today announced pricing for its new 1998 Frontier, available now at Nissan
retailers nationwide. Starting at a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price
(MSRP) of $11,990, the Frontier price represents a sales-weighted average
decrease of $241, on a comparably equipped basis, over its 1997 predecessor.
"With the 1998 Frontier, Nissan's seventh generation truck and the third
generation built in North America, we are featuring refinements to Nissan's
legendary truck ruggedness, durability, reliability, comfort and safety -- all
at a tremendous value to our customers," said Tom Eastwood, vice president,
Nissan Division. "We're confident that the Frontier will be a home run, just
like the historic models that it follows."
Like its predecessor, the longer, wider Frontier will be offered in
2-wheel and 4-wheel drive configurations and in Regular and extended King Cab
body styles. Three trim levels -- highly-equipped Standard (4x2 Regular Cab
only), volume-leading XE and sporty SE -- also are offered, bringing the
number of available models to seven. In addition, a variety of equipment
packages and optional equipment is available to help consumers "customize"
their vehicle to meet their exact usage and comfort needs.
In its most basic form, the 4x2 Standard model, with a price tag of only
$11,990 MSRP, comes equipped with the 2.4 liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine, 5-
speed manual transmission, power-assisted front disc/rear drum brakes with
rear ABS, styled steel wheels, tinted glass, double-wall bed with single
handle operation and inner tie-down hooks, dual air bags and more.
The value-oriented Frontier XE 4x2 also is available in Regular Cab, at
$13,190 MSRP; King Cab, at $14,640; as well as the popular SE 4x2 King Cab, at
$17,990. The XE trim adds such features as power-assisted steering, 15-inch
wheels (alloy wheels on King Cab), dual outside mirrors, chrome grille and
bumpers, CFC-free air conditioning, digital clock in the radio, full carpeting
and an optional 4-speed automatic transmission. Fold-down rear jump seats are
offered on the King Cab in both trim levels.
The 4x2 SE trim level adds an extra level of sporty equipment and
appearance items, including fender flares, a flip-up glass sunroof with
sunshade, cloth bucket seats, center console with storage and cup holders,
100-watt AM/FM cassette with CD, cruise control and tilt steering, tachometer,
sliding rear window, privacy glass and body side graphics.
Frontier 4x4 models are available in XE Regular Cab, at $16,990 MSRP; XE
King Cab, at $18,190; and SE King Cab, at $20,990. Each adds 235/75R15 tires
mounted on styled steel wheels, fender flares and part-time four-wheel drive
with locking hubs (manual on XE, automatic on SE). The top-of-the-line 4x4 SE
King Cab also includes the sunroof, sliding rear window and privacy glass.
A number of equipment packages are available, including the Appearance
Package, ranging from $299 to $549 (depending on trim level); the Comfort
Package, ranging from $399 to $579; and a Power Package (King Cab only) for
$999, with power windows, door locks and outside mirrors. A selection of
optional audio systems are offered, along with retailer-installed accessories
ranging from nose mask and bedliner to vehicle covers and tow hitches.
