Car and Driver and Road & Track Announce Rate Base IncreasesNEW YORK, Oct. 27 -- David J. Pecker, President and CEO, Hachette Filipacchi Magazines, announced today that effective with the January 1998 issues, Car and Driver will raise its rate base from 1.1 million to 1.2 million and Road & Track will increase its rate base from 725,000 to 735,000. "Car and Driver has enjoyed its largest increase in paid advertising and book size in the magazine's history. In addition to a 9% increase in circulation, Car and Driver continues to remain the world's largest automotive magazine," said Mr. Pecker. "Road & Track's recent single copy performance of 153,517 makes the magazine number one in newsstand sales for the first half of 1997. The June 1997, 50th Anniversary issue, at 334 pages was the largest automotive enthusiast magazine ever published in the U.S." "Car and Driver and Road & Track's excellent performances in circulation continue to demonstrate why they are the leading magazines in the automotive enthusiast categories," said Mr. Pecker.
