Audi Reports October Sales - Second Best in Eight Years

    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Nov. 4 -- Audi of America, Inc. reported
U.S. sales of 1,952 for the month of October, giving the German luxury
automaker a year-to-date total of 26,876, a 22.7 percent increase over last
year's 21,901.
    The October sales results are a decline from last October's
best-in-seven-years performance and represent the sell down of the 1997 models
across the country prior to the arrival of the new 1998 inventory, including
the exciting all-new Audi A6 sedan that debuts this month.
    Audi's 1997 year-to-date figures are more than twice Audi's total sales
for the 1995 calendar year.
