FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Nov. 10 -- Hyundai Motor America
today announced pricing on its 1998 vehicle line-up. Hyundai has held prices
on all 1998 Sonatas, Tiburon FX and Elantra GLS sedan and wagon. On a
comparably equipped basis overall prices have declined 0.2%.
"Our 1998 pricing reaffirms our commitment to offering our customers some
of the most exciting, value packed vehicles we have ever offered," says Robert
Parker, senior vice president. "The added equipment changes and price
decreases on a comparably equipped basis are significant and further enhance
each model's competitiveness."
For 1998, Accent received several equipment updates as well as significant
styling changes. With all the standard features added to the 1998 Accent, the
sales weighted average price declined 0.1%. This brings Accent up to a new
level of value for buyers in the sub-compact class.
As a first in its class, the Accent now offers an AM/FM cassette radio and
black bodyside moldings as standard equipment on all models, including "L".
Accent GS and GL receive standard bodycolor side molding, power steering and
new wheelcovers. New rear spoiler is standard on the GSi along with sporty
seat cloth, power windows and mirrors and power steering. All Accents receive
new front & rear bumper fascia, NVH improvements and several new colors.
This year the Elantra also receives an AM/FM cassette radio as standard
equipment on all 1998 base models. Pricing on the GLS sedan and wagon remain
unchanged for 1998 while the sales weighted average price declined -0.6% when
compared to comparably equipped 1997 Elantra.
Sonata pricing remains unchanged for 1998. For 1998, a previously
optional center console armrest has been added as standard equipment to all
Sonata models. The sales weighted average price fell -0.3%.
The 2.OL D0HC engine, previously available only on the Tiburon FX, is now
standard on all Tiburons. With a 140-horsepower engine now available on both
trim levels and unchanged pricing on the FX, the Tiburon again proves its
competitiveness in the sporty coupe segment. The Tiburon sales weighted
average rose 0.6% overall.
