Nissan Salutes America's Unsung Heroes - Carpool Parents!!! - Search for best in carpooling has December 1 deadline -

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 14 -- What has eight legs, four heads,
needs to be fed constantly and often makes loud annoying noises? Answer: The
average American carpool.
To applaud the moms and dads who tirelessly transport the neighborhood
children to school, sports practices, dance classes and swimming lessons,
Nissan Motor Corporation U.S.A. is searching for the "Nissan Quest Carpool
Parent of the Year." Nissan wants to know how these invisible chauffeurs of
cities and suburbs endure endless bad jokes and rowdy behavior while providing
tasty snacks and punctual door-to-door service.
"We know how important carpools are to the community, in conserving fuel
and helping busy families," says Brad Bradshaw, vice president, marketing,
Nissan Motor Corporation U.S.A. "At Nissan, we also know that carpools can
test the patience of even the calmest parents. So, we want to honor the
unsung heroes of carpooling and give them the recognition they deserve."
In a random survey of 300 carpool kids and 300 carpool parents conducted
by Nissan, findings reflected the average carpool parent spends seven hours in
the car with three children every week. The carpool experience includes
complicated schedules, traffic and screaming kids, but it can be rewarding.
Carpooling allows parents to spend precious time with their children and their
children's friends, providing them the chance to once again view life through
the eyes of a child.
To be eligible to enter the "Nissan Quest Carpool Parent of the Year
Contest," an entrant must carpool at least three children for a minimum of six
hours a month, have a safe driving record and submit up to 10 tips for
fun/safe carpooling. Regional and grand prize winners will be chosen based on
practicality and originality of tips. The grand prize winner will receive a
1998 Nissan Quest minivan.
To request a "Nissan Quest Carpool Parent of the Year" application, call
1-800-955-4500 or enter via Nissan's Web site at http://www.nissan-na.com. All
entries must be properly submitted and postmarked NO LATER THAN DECEMBER 1,
1997.
