Charlotte Motor Speedway's `Great Ticket Rush'

CONCORD, N.C., Nov. 18 -- The "Great Ticket Rush of 1998" has
begun. With 1998 Coca-Cola 600 Month activities still more than six months
away, race fans are showing great urgency in purchasing tickets to The Winston
and the 38th annual Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Speedway officials reported today that ticket sales for the May 24 Coca-
Cola 600 are 296 percent ahead of last year's ticket sales on the same date.
Ticket sales are also brisk for NASCAR Winston Cup's all-star race, The
Winston, on May 16.
Charlotte Motor Speedway President H.A. "Humpy" Wheeler announced today
that all remaining tickets to 1998 Coca-Cola 600 Month activities have been
placed on a "first come, first served" basis. This is nearly three months
earlier than in previous years.
"The Coca-Cola 600 is more than a race; it's a major event that people
want to be a part of," Wheeler said. "The 1997 Coca-Cola 600 was a sell-out,
and to date we've sold over 60,000 more tickets than we had at this time last
year. It looks as though we're already well on our way to selling out the
1998 event."
As always, 1998's version of The Winston promises to be an exciting event.
This no-holds-barred race will feature the top drivers on the circuit battling
it out in three segments totaling 70 of the most hotly contested laps of the
year.
Ticket prices for the 14th running of The Winston range from $20 - $73.
Tickets for Coca-Cola 600 Pole Night on Wednesday, May 21, and the CARQUEST
Auto Parts 300 on Saturday, May 23, are also on sale now.
All Coca-Cola 600 Month tickets can be purchased at the speedway ticket
office or by calling (704) 455-3200.
