(PCNA) and Porsche Cars Canada, Ltd. (PCC) today announced they have achieved their best sales year since 1988, selling a combined 13,731 sports cars during 1997. Due in large part to the 1997 introduction of the Porsche Boxster, the company's entry-level model and first all-new sports car in 19 years, sales figures reflected an 87 percent increase over calendar year 1996. It marked the fourth year in a row Porsche has realized significant sales increases in the U.S. and Canadian markets. PCNA reported total 1997 sales of 12,972 cars, an 86 percent increase over its 1996 figures. PCC recorded 1997 total sales of 759 automobiles, a 110 percent gain over the previous year.
