NuReality Introduces the First Car Audio Product to Feature SRS Labs' Revolutionary FOCUS TechnologyLAS VEGAS, CES-Booth 11117, Jan. 8 -- NuReality, a leading manufacturer of 3D audio processors featuring the award winning SRS(R) technology, and SRS Labs, Inc. , the world's leading provider of entertainment enhancement technology, announced today the introduction of the VFX 4200, the first car audio product to include SRS Labs' FOCUS technology. The VFX 4200 is an after-market car amplifier that includes FOCUS and SRS 3D Sound and is expected to begin shipping to dealers and distributors in the first quarter of 1998 with an MSRP of $299.95. SRS Labs' new FOCUS(TM) technology is designed for use in automobiles where producing a vivid stereo sound image is often a challenge due to door- mounted speakers. FOCUS vertically raises the stereo image and positions the perceived sound stage in front of the listener regardless of the actual speaker location. When combined with SRS 3D Sound, FOCUS, as implemented in the VFX 4200, creates a completely immersive sound stage in a car from only the front left and right speakers. An interactive demonstration of the FOCUS technology is available in the SRS Labs booth #11117 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas from January 8 to January 11, 1998. SRS Labs has installed the FOCUS and SRS 3D Sound technologies in a 1997 Hummer by AM General, courtesy of Huntington Beach Hummer in Huntington Beach, California. Representatives from NuReality will be available at SRS Labs' booth to demonstrate the VFX 4200, answer questions and accommodate dealer inquiries. Jim Mercer, Operations Manager of NuReality stated, "The Hummer is a perfect choice for the demonstration at CES! As expensive and massive as the Hummer is, the front channels get lost in the footwell. After adding FOCUS, not only is the soundstage raised, but the entire vehicle is completely filled with incredible 3D sound. If FOCUS with SRS can do that for a Hummer, just imagine what it can do for other vehicles!" Steve Sedmak, President of SRS Labs, Inc. stated, "We are very excited about the introduction of the VFX 4200 and feel it has tremendous potential. Any consumer who has non-optimally placed front speakers in their automobile can purchase VFX 4200 and now enjoy a level of audio realism that has not been possible before. I encourage all attendees of CES to stop by our booth and hear how SRS Labs, NuReality and Hummer have raised audio to the next level ... Literally!" Easy Installation with Existing Audio System The VFX 4200 works with virtually any two channel car audio system and accepts pre-amp and speaker level inputs for front door and kickpanel speakers. Its slim design may be concealed under a seat or in the trunk with mounting slots on both sides. Professional installers can adjust the height of the audio image depending on the placement of the front speakers. Controls The VFX 4200 incorporates both the innovative FOCUS circuitry and the patented SRS technology which allows the user to customize the sound image of the front left and right channels. FOCUS -- Fixed control that adjusts the height of the sound stage depending on speaker placement SRS -- On/Off switch to enable the user to bypass the SRS feature REMOTE CONTROL PORT -- Future hardwired remote control capabilities for on/off of FOCUS and/or SRS OUTPUT LEVEL -- Sets the output from the amplifier Specifications RMS 4OWx2ch at 4 ohms, MOSFET amplifier THD less than 0.05% Dims: 9x2.5x9.25 About SRS Labs Under the leadership of chairman Thomas C.K.
