Chrysler Announces a New Service Program for Shareholders

    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Jan. 23 -- Chrysler Corporation
today announced that its current shareholders and other interested
investors will be able to purchase Chrysler common stock at reduced
commissions through the DirectSERVICE(TM) Investment Program sponsored by
First Chicago Trust Company of New York.
    "This program is yet another indication of our commitment to our
shareholders," said Robert J. Eaton, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
"The services featured in this program are intended to provide Chrysler
shareholders and potential Chrysler investors with a flexible and convenient
way to manage their Chrysler investment."
    The program replaces the Chrysler Dividend Reinvestment Program and offers
a broader array of services, including the direct purchase of stock, the
custodial safekeeping of certificates for all shareholders, the opportunity to
build the investment on a periodic basis, and the sale or transfer of stock at
any time. These services are offered by Chrysler's transfer agent, First
Chicago Trust Company of New York, as a lower cost alternative to traditional
brokerage services.
    Key features of the new program include:

    * Shareholders of record are automatically enrolled and will receive
details in the mail next month;
    * New shareholders can buy their first shares directly through the program
with a minimum initial investment of $1,000, or by authorizing a minimum
of ten automatic monthly payments of at least $100;
    * Additional investments of at least $50 can be made periodically.
Investment amounts can be automatically deducted from the investor's bank
account or sent in by mail;
    * Investors can reinvest dividends in full or in part, or receive cash
dividend payments electronically or by check; and
    * Investors can transfer shares or make gifts of Chrysler Common Stock at
no cost to them.
