Land Rover, the 4x4 Authority, Issues 2nd Edition Guide Book

Widely-hailed volume expanded to include Range Rover, large and luxury SUVs

LANHAM, Md., Feb. 2 -- Land Rover North America, Inc. has
just published an updated version of its "Authoritative Guide to Sport-Utility
Vehicles" in response to the public's enthusiasm for the 80,000-strong first
edition. The second edition has been expanded to include new entries in the
market, large/luxury vehicles and the peerless Range Rover. All
specifications and pricing have been updated for the 1998 model year, and
every article by the six authors has been reviewed and updated as necessary.
Phil Popham, LRNA Vice President, Marketing, said, "Land Rover celebrates
its 50th Anniversary in 1998 -- for 50 years, we have been building nothing
but the best 4x4s, and we've learned a few things along the way. We believe
the 'Authoritative Guide' provides every potential customer with the tools to
learn, which leads to consumer competence and enthusiasm for the sport-utility
market."
Comparative data on 27 vehicles and the incomparable Range Rover is
included in the 138-page guide. Line drawings of each vehicle help readers
identify styling characteristics and concise explanations of technical terms
help them to understand just what they're buying. Opening chapters cover
topics such as "Understanding SUV Safety", "Driving Off-Road" and "Sport-
Utility Mobility -- A Woman's Perspective."
Mr. Popham continued, "While we'd be pleased if a Guide reader selects a
Discovery or Range Rover after comparing all the available SUVs, our purpose
in publishing this handbook is to assist consumers in making educated
decisions as to which vehicle best fits their needs and lifestyle. We believe
we're providing a valuable service to the increasing number of consumers
bewildered by the varying capabilities and features offered in the sport-
utility end of the market."
A summary of the booklet is available on Land Rover's web site at
