MotorWeek Selects Audi A6 to Receive First-Ever Drivers' Choice Best of the Year AwardCHICAGO, Feb. 4 -- Audi of America, Inc. today announced that its daring, new 1998 A6 luxury touring sedan has won the first-ever MotorWeek Drivers' Choice Best of the Year Award. The A6 was their staff's unanimous choice for this prestigious award which recognizes overall achievement in the automotive industry. The staff also selected the A6 to receive the 1998 Drivers' Choice Best Luxury Car award. MotorWeek is television's original automotive magazine and is a national production of Maryland Public Television. The MotorWeek Drivers' Choice Awards, now in their 17th year, are based on a compilation of criteria such as product integrity, performance, pricing, value and purpose. MotorWeek presents these awards to acknowledge the industry's outstanding automotive product and design for the model year. More than 150 vehicles are evaluated each year to enable the MotorWeek staff to select the benchmark in each class. The A6 is the center of gravity for Audi's new product line. With a longer wheelbase and improved equipment levels over the previous A6, it delivers on the promise of the A4 sport sedans and the premium, luxury A8, and reestablishes the heart of Audi's product line with the new standard for luxury touring sedans. It was a year ago at the Chicago Auto Show that MotorWeek honored the Audi A8 with the Drivers' Choice Award for Best Dream Machine. Just last month, the A6 was recognized in Detroit at the North American International Auto Show as a finalist in the North American Car of the Year Awards. It has been on sale in the U.S. since November and helped contribute to Audi's best sales year in the U.S. since 1987. SOURCE Audi of America, Inc.
