Audi A8 and A4 Named as Automobile Magazine All-Stars' Award Recipients

    NEW YORK,  April 8 -- Today, Automobile Magazine named the
Audi A8 the Best Luxury Sedan (large) as part of their annual All-Stars
Awards.  The announcement came at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in
Manhattan during the first press preview day of the New York International
Auto Show.
    After driving and reviewing more than 300 vehicles over the past year,
Automobile Magazine's editors chose sixteen vehicles which they view as the
best built, designed, engineered and drivable vehicles in the marketplace.
    In the May issue of Automobile Magazine, in which the All-Stars feature
appears, the editors also announced the winners of the first annual Reader's
Choice All-Star awards.  The magazines' readers selected the Audi A4 as Best
Luxury Sedan (mid-size).
    The all-aluminum A8 is Audi's luxury flagship.  It was first introduced as
a 1997 model and is available in two V8 versions: the 3.7 liter FrontTrak
front-wheel drive and the 4.2 liter quattro all-wheel drive.  The A8 was the
first vehicle in the world to come equipped with six airbags as standard
equipment, including side airbags for both front and rear outboard occupants.
The A4 is Audi's blast-to-drive luxury sports car and is available in two
sedan versions (the 1.8 T and 2.8), as well as a sport wagon -- the A4 Avant.
