AutoZone Celebrates 2,000th Store

    MEMPHIS, Tenn., May 11 -- AutoZone, Inc. , opened
it's 2,000th store on Saturday, May 9, John C. Adams Jr., chairman and CEO,
announced. Store 2,000 opened in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
    "It took AutoZone 16 years to open our first 1,000 stores. We managed to
open the next 1,000 stores in just three years" Mr. Adams said. "That's a
remarkable sign of growth and a magnificent tribute to our
30,000 AutoZoners."
    AutoZone sells auto and light truck parts, chemicals and accessories
through 2,001 stores in 38 states. AutoZone also sells heavy-duty truck parts
through 43 TruckPro stores in 14 states and automotive diagnostic and repair
software through ALLDATA.
