Tenneco Appoints Crockford Vice President-Compensation and BenefitsGREENWICH, Conn., May 12 -- Tenneco today announced the appointment of Rebecca M. Crockford as vice president-compensation and benefits for the corporation. In her new position, Crockford will work on all aspects of total compensation and benefits strategic planning and design, including setting direction for the company's compensation and benefits philosophy and working with outside firms to assess market comparisons and track trends and best practices. She will work closely with aligned resources in Tenneco operating units and Tenneco Business Services and assist with due diligence in acquisitions or divestitures. Crockford will report to Barry Schuman, Tenneco senior vice president, Human Resources, and will operate out of Tenneco's corporate headquarters in Greenwich, Conn. Crockford joins Tenneco from Georgia-Pacific Corporation, where she started as a junior accountant in 1975. She rose through positions of increasing responsibility there, becoming controller of corporate accounting and headquarters accounting, director of internal audit, and president and treasurer of the company foundation, before being elected vice president, compensation and benefits in 1994. In that position, she designed, developed and administered EVA-based annual cash incentive plans and long-term incentive plans based on total shareholder return. With a bachelor's degree in accounting from Portland State University and a master's degree in human resource management from the Keller Graduate School of Management in Atlanta, Ga., she received her Certified Public Accountant designation in 1984 and the Certified Internal Auditor designation in 1986.
