ECD Completes Public Offering of 1,750,000 Units

    TROY, Mich., May 12 -- Energy Conversion Devices, Inc.
("ECD") announced that it has completed a registered public
offering of 1,750,000 units of its securities at a price per unit of $13.25.
Each unit consists of one share of ECD Common Stock and one warrant to
purchase one share of ECD Common Stock for $17.89 on or prior to January 31,
2000, and for $20.54 at any time thereafter on or prior to July 31, 2001.  The
offering was made to major institutional purchasers.
