Federal-Mogul Recognized by General Motors as a Supplier of the Year

    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., May 27 -- Federal-Mogul Corporation's
McConnelsville, Ohio manufacturing facility has been recognized by
General Motors as a Supplier of the Year.
    "Federal-Mogul demonstrated throughout 1997 that they are among the 'Best
of the Best' suppliers for heavywall bearings," stated Harold R. Kutner, GM's
vice president for Worldwide Purchasing and North American Production Control
and Logistics.
    "Federal-Mogul is truly globally competitive and, by virtue of this award,
is recognized as a worldwide leader in product development, technology,
manufacturing, continuous improvement, value and most important quality," he
added.
    General Motors Worldwide Purchasing honored supplier companies in Mexico
City with the 1997 GM Supplier-of-the-Year award.  This is the sixth year for
GM's program that recognizes supplier companies worldwide who exceed specific
performance standards in the areas of quality, service and price.  The 182
companies receiving awards were selected from a GM supplier base of more than
30,000 supplier companies.
    "We are truly honored to be selected as a Supplier of the Year by General
Motors," said Alan Johnson, executive vice president, Powertrain Systems.  "I
am extremely proud of the commitment and dedication of the McConnelsville
team.  I recognize the rigorous standards of performance required to win this
award and I applaud their dedication to providing GM with the highest quality
products and services."
