InsWeb's Presence on Auto Trader Online Helps Car Shoppers Find Auto Insurance; Leading Auto Classifieds Teams Up With Internet's Leading Insurance Site

SAN MATEO, Calif.--June 23, 1998--InsWeb, the Internet's leading insurance marketplace, announced an agreement today enabling online consumers to comparison shop and select policies at Auto Trader Online, the world's largest database of used cars. InsWeb is featured as a premier auto insurance provider on Auto Trader Online.
Auto Trader visitors using InsWeb can fill out a single form to receive price comparisons from leading insurance companies, such as State Farm, Nationwide, and AIG. InsWeb helps consumers save time and money by eliminating the busywork of collecting quotes and by potentially finding better value for their insurance dollar. The cost of identical coverage often varies significantly from company to company, so it pays to compare price and service.
"We are pleased to offer the users of Auto Trader Online an even more complete purchase experience," said Mike Mastrullo, Auto Product Manager for Trader Online. "InsWeb allows Trader visitors to find the best value on auto insurance at the time of their purchase. This partnership puts more information at the customer's fingertips, making them feel more confident about their decision to buy a particular car."
"InsWeb's partnership with Auto Trader Online is good for consumers because it makes the process of buying and insuring a car more convenient by having both capabilities available in a single location," said Senior Vice President Mark Guthrie, head of InsWeb's Internet Strategic Partnerships. "By partnering with Auto Trader, InsWeb is helping consumers get insurance online in a high-quality environment and is expanding the reach of our participating carriers."
InsWeb's relationship with Auto Trader is one of 16 partnerships the company has entered into since November 1997, including Yahoo!, Classifieds2000, InfoSpace, USA TODAY Online and Realtor.com. Auto Trader is also one of several auto-specific sites where InsWeb's marketplace is accessible. These include Consumers Car Club, a provider of automobile buying information, and Best Buys, an automobile sales site.
