Fondmetal Minardi Ford and MSC Announce Expansion of Working Relationship; Italian Formula One Racing Team Will Increase Use of MSC Products, Services and Support

LOS ANGELES--July 8, 1998--Minardi Team Spa and The MacNeal-Schwendler Corp. (MSC)have jointly announced the expansion of their relationship.
Fondmetal Minardi Ford, the well-known Italian Formula One Racing team, will enlarge its current use of MSC products, services and support, and add MSC/FATIGUE and the laminate modeler module.
Minardi has been using MSC/NASTRAN, MSC/PATRAN and supporting products for the last three years in designing, developing and analyzing its high-performance race cars. These are critical components in developing maximum performance in speed and safety.
"We have been successfully using MSC software for three years," said Gian Carlo Minardi, co-owner of the Formula One racing team. "We are pleased that our association with MSC continues to grow. We are looking forward to further success with our expansion in MSC programs and services."
"The local Italian relationship between MSC and Minardi has always been very strong," said Alberto Zerenghi, MSC's country director for Italy. "In future, this expanded collaboration will lead to the further enhanced competitiveness of the team.
"We are extremely gratified that our excellent relationship with Minardi has lead to this growth of our alliance, which we expect will continue with additional software, services and programs. We know that customers will see our logo racing with the cars as an expression of our faith in Minardi's future performance."
"MSC is proud that our software and services have become the standard in the Formula One world. These racing teams face the stringent and demanding challenge of extracting maximum performance from their designs in a fixed, minimum time," said Tom Curry, MSC's president and chief executive officer.
"To accomplish this under severe time pressures demands high-performance, flexible software. Their visible confidence in our software and services is an expression of MSC's success in the automotive industry."
