AutoWeek Publishes 40th Anniversary Issue
    DETROIT, July 10 -- With its July 13, 1998 edition, AutoWeek
magazine marks the largest single issue ever published in its 40-year history.
With it also celebrates AutoWeek's 40th anniversary.
    "Captured in this single issue of AutoWeek is a look back," said AutoWeek
Vice President and Publisher Leon Mandel.  "Not at the last 40 years of a
magazine, but of the last 40 years of the most significant car-related things
-- people, places, events, technology, design and much, much more."
    Also significant is that this issue marks the redesign of the nation's
only weekly enthusiast car magazine.  The crisp, clean and concise new look,
crafted by noted magazine designers Milton Glaser and Walter Bernard, visually
updates AutoWeek and makes it more reader-friendly.
    "Our weekly format and content puts AutoWeek ahead of all publications in
this niche," said editor and associate publisher Dutch Mandel.  "The redesign
gives it a familial and familiar look."
    The July 13 issue includes in-depth feature articles from some of the more
recognizable names in the automotive industry including Jim McCraw, Jim Hall,
Steve Pasteiner, Don Sherman, Pete Lyons and Denise McCluggage as well as Auto
Week publisher Leon Mandel.
