Mario Andretti Celebrates 20th Anniversary of Formula One World Championship and Driver of the Year Honors at Lamborghini Tribute Dinner
Tickets Go on Sale for 'Night of the Bulls' Tribute

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., July 15 -- Mario Andretti is often
referred to as the greatest race car driver of all time, having proven himself
a winner at all levels of competition. In 1978 while driving for Lotus,
Andretti joined Phil Hill as the only American ever to capture the world title
and, later that same year, won his second of three Driver of the Year honors.
To commemorate the 20th anniversary of this historic achievement, racing
enthusiasts, fellow drivers and friends will assemble to salute Mario Andretti
at the "Night of the Bulls" dinner on Wednesday, August 12, 1998 at the Four
Seasons Hotel in Newport Beach, Calif. The Mario Andretti tribute is the
start of Automobili Lamborghini's 35th anniversary celebration in the U.S.
Fifty Lamborghini Diablos will assemble in full view from poolside where
the reception and silent auction will be held beginning at 7 p.m. Lamborghini
owners, Andretti included, are participating in the "Running of the Bulls"
drive that will travel from Newport Beach to Monterey for the Monterey
Historic Weekend's various motoring events. The 50-car procession will be
headed by Andretti under a California Highway Patrol escort.
The ceremonies will begin at 8 p.m. with dinner and an introduction of the
celebrities and famous drivers who are expected. A brief video tribute
chronicling Andretti's illustrious 50-plus year career will begin at
approximately 9 p.m., followed by a live auction and results of the silent
auction.
Capping the evening will be an interview session with Andretti and
Derek Daly, owner of the Derek Daly Racing School in Las Vegas. Guests will
have the opportunity to hear a few of the many colorful and exciting stories
that only Andretti can share.
A limited number of tickets are available for the "Night of the Bulls"
tribute dinner and are available by calling 702-873-4000. Ticket prices are
$150 each or $1,600 for a table of 12. Net proceeds from the dinner and
auction benefit Childhelp USA, a non-profit organization dedicated to
combating child abuse across America.
