OnGuard Technologies Develops Innovative Auto MonitorSEATTLE, July 21 -- OnGuard Technologies is leading the way with a revolutionary new product. CarMon is the black box designed to sit in your car and measure cornering and start/stop accelerations. The small unit is equipped with sensitive technology that works in coordination with a user-friendly software interface to chart motion changes in your vehicle. The self-contained unit catalogues over 800 acceleration, braking, and cornering events, allowing individuals to monitor driving behavior. Each event is date and time tagged. CarMon operates on a 9-volt battery, and is Velcro'ed(TM) onto the floor of the vehicle to be monitored. The main idea behind CarMon, says creator and OnGuard Technologies Product Designer, Bob Twigg, "is to make drivers more accountable for the way they drive." OnGuard suggests that parents use CarMon to periodically monitor the way their teenager is using their car. CarMon encourages drivers to think twice before making what otherwise might be "hasty" traffic decisions that may lead to accidents. In the current climate for "Road Rage," OnGuard views their product as a proactive way to assist new drivers in being alert and responsible. Parents will worry less when their teens are out on the road, and businesses can monitor the way their cars are being driven. Other applications for CarMon arise with car rental companies that want to encourage careful and responsible drivers with access to better rental rates. CarMon can also be used by insurance carriers to encourage parents to not shop insurance companies when teens start driving. If parents show responsible parental control why not give them an insurance break? CarMon includes the monitor, cable for uploading to the computer, and application software. CarMon costs $89.95.
