NASCAR Great Geoff Bodine and Lincoln Technical Institute Announce Scholarship Program Valued at $300,000 Annually; Local Intern for Brickyard 400INDIANAPOLIS, July 28 -- Before an assembly of over 350 students, instructors and racing enthusiasts, NASCAR legend Geoff Bodine today announced a scholarship program for automotive students at Lincoln Technical Institute valued at $300,000 annually. In addition to The Bodine Scholarship Program, he also introduced the Lincoln Tech student who will intern in his pit crew for Sunday's Brickyard 400, Boyd Wolff of Martinsville, IN. "I couldn't think of a more appropriate place to announce these great programs than in the heartland of racing in front of the young people who represent the future of racing and all of automotive technology," said Bodine. "Lincoln Tech has taken a progressive lead in training students for an automotive career, and I'm very proud of this scholarship program for students interested in automotive technology at any of the eight Lincoln Tech schools. In addition, I'd like to welcome Boyd Wolff to my crew. The internship program provides students with a close look at what it takes to work on a NASCAR crew, and is a great training ground for the future. I think all of racing should take notice of what Lincoln Tech is doing for the sport." Geoff Bodine has taken a very active role in automotive education, and has teamed-up with Lincoln Tech in creating a scholarship program which will aid students with full and partial scholarships at all eight Lincoln Tech schools which offer training in automotive technology. The Bodine Scholarship Program will be one of the nation's largest financial assistance programs to prepare students for a career in automotive technology. "Lincoln Tech has worked closely with Geoff this NASCAR season on our internship program, and we're very proud to elevate our mutual commitment to include the scholarship program," said Pat Santangelo, president and CEO of Lincoln Tech. "Geoff has demonstrated a very forward-looking attitude because today's students are tomorrow's automotive experts. Lincoln Tech, the Bodine team and NASCAR share a commitment to excellence, and I believe we will have the same success with the new scholarship program, as well as the ongoing internship program as we have enjoyed preparing young people in the automotive industry for over 50 years." Lincoln Tech flew intern Boyd Wolff to Bodine's headquarters in Charlotte, NC this past Sunday to work with the entire team. He'll work all week with the team to prepare for the Brickyard 400. On Sunday's race day, Wolff will work with the pit crew and experience the intense action of NASCAR racing up close.
