Kia Sportage Again Named `Best Buy in Four-Wheel Drive' by Four Wheeler MagazineIRVINE, Calif., July 29 -- For the third year in a row, the Kia Sportage was selected as one of Four Wheeler magazine's "10 Best Buys in Four-Wheel Drive." Based on an extensive review of sub-compact, four-door sport-utility vehicles, Four Wheeler chose the Sportage as its overall winner and considered it a better buy than Toyota RAV4, Chevy Tracker, Suzuki Sidekick and Sidekick Sport JX. Four Wheeler praised the Sportage for having the beefiest engine in the class, an impressive cargo area and an available limited-slip differential. Other features recognized by the magazine were the added wheelbase on the Sportage, its smoother on-pavement ride and flexier rear suspension. Since its introduction in 1995, the Sportage has received many honors, including a 1997 and 1998 "Best Overall Value of the Year" from IntelliChoice, a "Best Buy" among compact sport-utility vehicles from the Men's Journal 1997 Buyer's Guide and the "Best of What's New" in 1995 from Popular Science.
