Mobil Corporation Sponsors African American Women On Tour Opening In Atlanta August 28-30 1998; Line-Up of Celebrity Speakers To Be Featured

    ATLANTA--Aug. 14, 1998--The 1998 Mobil African American Women on Tour (AAWOT), the nation's foremost Black women's empowerment conference, concludes its six city, national tour in Atlanta, Friday, August 28 through Sunday, August 30 at the Atlanta Hilton Hotel. Mobil Corporation is serving as the title sponsor of the event.
    Featured speakers at the event in Atlanta include some of the nation's most accomplished Black women. Maya Angelou, one of our nation's most legendary authors and poets, will share her inspirational message of hope and perseverance in a keynote address. Also featured at the conference is the dynamic motivational speaker and author of the 1992 best-selling book Tapping the Power Within, Iyanla Vanzant. A lecture by actress and comedian Phyllis Yvonne Stickney will also be a conference highlight.

With generous assistance from companies like Mobil, we have progressed from a one city conference to a national conference tour that attracts women from across the country, as well as Canada, the Caribbean, England, and Africa."

    "We have seen how the conference attracts the most highly-regarded speakers on Black women's issues to its workshops, forums, and lectures. Serving as the 1998 title sponsor is an important way Mobil can honor the heritage of Black women in America. We are proud to be in Atlanta as part of this spectacular program."
    Nearly 30 speakers and workshops will be featured in Atlanta. Workshop topics include career and business development, health and fitness, financial management, spiritual growth, and communication skills. Workshop facilitators represent some of the country's most sought-after speakers, many of whom are published authors and effective corporate trainers selected by AAWOT organizers to share their wisdom and networking opportunities.
    Mobil will also present its Entrepreneurs' Forum facilitated by Glinda Bridgforth, President of Bridgforth Financial, a financial management firm. With a panel of experts, the Mobil forum examines the principles and realities of business development.
    The 1998 Mobil African American Women on Tour has also visited Los Angeles, Detroit, Philadelphia, New York City, and Washington, DC.
