Thrifty Car Rental Neighbors Together(R) Program Expected to Raise More Than $70,000 for Children's CharitiesTULSA, Okla., Aug. 31 -- Thrifty Car Rental will drive kids to a healthier future during the month of September when it plans to raise in excess of $70,000 for needy children's organizations in the U.S. with its fourth-annual NEIGHBORS TOGETHER(R) program. When customers rent in September, Thrifty will contribute 50 cents or more to the funding of a local children's charity at more than 350 participating U.S. locations. In addition, the Thrifty corporate headquarters will add to local funds raised. This should result in an overall contribution of nearly $90,000 as a result of this year's program. To date, more than $200,000 has been donated in the three years of the program. The effort is part of NEIGHBORS TOGETHER, a program that encourages Thrifty rental centers to partner with local children's' non-profit organizations that need assistance in the community. All funds raised by NEIGHBORS TOGETHER stay in the local communities to go directly for children's services. Nearly 75 children's organizations will benefit this year, ranging broadly in size and scope. From Urban Produce, a program that matches at-risk youth with adults in an inner city gardening program in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Big Brothers & Sisters of Los Angeles, the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Denver, and the Children's Miracle Network in Baton Rouge.
