Thousands of College Students Across America Begin Evaluation Drive Today of New Daewoo Automobiles; Korean Automaker Launching Line in U.S. This Month

COMPTON, Calif.--Sept. 11, 1998--Thousands of college students across America will start tooling around their 400-plus respective campuses today in a new car manufactured by Daewoo Motor, one of Korea's top automakers and part of Daewoo Group, the world's 18th largest industrial conglomerate.
Daewoo Motor America Inc., the automobile distribution arm of Daewoo Group in the U.S., with headquarters in Compton, this month is launching in the United States its three-car line of stylish, well-built and economical models -- the Leganza, Nubira and Lanos -- which have been tailor-made for the American market.
The cars will initially be sold in 15 company-owned stores located in nine states -- California, New York, Florida, Illinois, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island.
These college students are Daewoo "Campus Advisors" (DCAs) who are participating in the company's 90-day Evaluation Drive program. DCAs serve as Daewoo marketing representatives, spreading the word about the automobiles on campus and assisting prospective buyers.
The Evaluation Drive is part of Daewoo's orientation program for its DCAs, many of whom attended a weeklong "Discover Daewoo" program in Korea over the past summer. During the evaluation period, DCAs will have the opportunity of purchasing the vehicle they are driving at substantial savings off its retail price.
College students who have a valid drivers license, good driving record and an interest in direct marketing who want to consider becoming a Daewoo Campus Advisor can apply or learn more about the program by calling 877/362-8324 or by visiting Daewoo Motor America's Web site, www.daewoous.com.
