What: Massachusetts' officials will announce a first-in-the-nation, model program to reduce air emissions generated by diesel construction equipment of the Central Artery/Tunnel Project, the largest federal construction project in the country. The Clean Air Construction Initiative is the result of a collaborative effort between government agencies, nonprofit groups and construction companies to proactively achieve significant air pollution reductions. This Initiative serves as a landmark program in demonstrating the clean air opportunities in reducing diesel construction emissions.
There will be a press briefing regarding details of the Clean Air Construction Initiative, and a review of a recently completed pilot program to reduce emissions on construction equipment. The briefing will be followed by a demonstration of construction equipment with and without the emissions control devices at an adjoining construction site of the Central Artery/Tunnel project.
