Toyota Records One Million U.S. Sales for Fifth Consecutive Year
TORRANCE, Calif., Nov. 10 -- Toyota Motor Sales (TMS),
U.S.A., Inc. today reported its one-millionth vehicle sale in the U.S for
1998. This is the fifth-consecutive year the automaker has reached the one
million-unit milestone and is the earliest date ever that it has reached this
point.
"This latest sales achievement is a testament to the excellent quality and
value in every Toyota product," said Don Esmond, group vice president and
general manager of Toyota Division. "Special recognition must go out to all
of our manufacturing team members and dealers for their extra efforts
throughout the year. Led by the best-selling Camry and a strong model lineup
from top to bottom, Toyota will continue to set new sales records for the rest
of the year."
The one-million sales achievement puts TMS on a pace to set a year-end
sales record for the third-consecutive year. Toyota Division monthly sales
have exceeded 100,000 units five times this year including four months
consecutively (May through August). Currently, 1998 Toyota Division sales now
stand at 1,002,205.
