Acura Announces Pricing for 1999 NSX and SLX

2 December 1998

Acura Announces Pricing for 1999 NSX and SLX
TORRANCE, Calif., Dec. 1 -- Acura today announced pricing for
the 1999 model NSX and NSX-T exotic sports cars will remain unchanged from the
previous model year at $84,000 for the NSX coupe and $88,000 for the open-top
NSX-T. In addition, pricing for the 1999 Acura SLX luxury sport utility
vehicle also remains unchanged at $36,300 for a fully appointed model.
New for 1999 is the addition of a signature series NSX -- the Alex Zanardi
Edition, which takes the all-aluminum, hand built exotic sports car to new
levels of excitement. Available in March 1999, only 50 of the Zanardi Edition
NSX's will be built and pricing will be announced closer to the on-sale date.
The NSX is ranked among the world's foremost in exotic sports cars and
offers two distinct powertrains. The first is a lightweight, all-aluminum
3.2-liter, DOHC, 24 valve, 90-degree V-6 engine producing 290 horsepower and
224 lb ft of torque, coupled to a 6-speed close-ratio manual transmission.
The optional NSX powerplant is a 3.0-liter V-6 engine that provides 252
horsepower and 210 lb ft of torque mated to a four-speed automatic
transmission featuring the Formula One racing-inspired sequential SportShift
semi-manual system.
Nestled inside this exotic sports car in the ergonomically designed,
leather-trimmed power seats, the driver and passenger are surrounded by
creature comforts including an automatic climate-control system, the
Acura/Bose(R) Music System, power windows and door locks, cruise control and a
tilt/telescopic steering column.
Available as an open top model, the NSX-T comes with a removable top,
which is formed from aluminum for light weight and durability and has its own
storage compartment under the rear glass hatch.
As a pioneer in the luxury sport utility market, Acura offers the SLX as
its entry in the competitive category. Designed for everyday driving and
rugged exploration, the SLX combines a powerful engine and a myriad of luxury
amenities to create one multi-use vehicle that meets a great many needs.
The SLX offers a long list of standard equipment, including: "Torque on
Demand" push-button four-wheel drive, a powerful 3.5-liter, DOHC V-6 engine,
producing 215-horsepower, leather-trimmed interior, safari-sized power
moonroof, power windows and door locks, heated front seats, power fold-in
mirrors, cruise control, and an AM/FM Cassette/CD audio system.
The NSX and SLX, like all Acura models, are covered by a comprehensive
4-year/50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty. Additional ownership
benefits include Acura Total Luxury Care (TLC), which provides free 24-hour
roadside assistance, concierge service and trip routing. For the latest
