Volvo Introduces Pre-Painted Bumpers

4 December 1998

Now, the Best Paint Job Comes in a Box: Volvo Introduces Pre-Painted Bumpers
ROCKLEIGH, N.J., Dec. 4 -- Volvo's new Painted Bumper Covers
offer time savings, high quality repair work, environmental efficiency and
customer satisfaction -- along with the best possible paint job.
Done properly, individual bumper paintwork can often slow down progress at
a body repair business, since flexible plastic parts such as bumpers typically
require a lengthy process.
Volvo now eliminates this process by providing a pre-painted bumper that's
ready to install right out of the box. Back at the factory, a thorough
flaming and surface preparation procedure provides a smooth, even paint
surface that resists fading and peeling while retaining the appropriate degree
of flexibility. Since Volvo Painted Bumper Covers are manufactured using
original factory colors, color matching is no longer a time-consuming issue.
Additionally, using pre-painted bumpers helps reduce the environmental impact
of bumper repair, since painting takes place within Volvo's environmentally
conscious manufacturing facilities.
Shop owners will undoubtedly be pleased with this, but the biggest
beneficiary is the Volvo owner who receives a replacement bumper with a
durable finish that will perform exactly to Volvo's quality standards.
Over 500 different pre-painted bumpers representing approximately 30 model
variants beginning with the 1988 model year will be available. These are
available in most parts of the United States by second-day delivery at no
additional charge, eliminating the need for shops to stock a large inventory
of bumpers. Each Volvo Painted Bumper ships in an environmentally-friendly
package that's specially designed to shield its contents from impacts and
scratches. The bumper arrives complete with all the loose parts painted
(e.g. covers, plugs, moldings). Additional installation hardware and other
parts can be ordered as needed.
This new product gives shop owners the opportunity to do their own bumper
repairs even if they're not equipped with a spray booth. However, even if
they contract the work out to another shop, they can be assured that the
bumper repairs will uphold their own reputation and Volvo's.
