Toyota Announces November Certified Used Vehicle Sales

    TORRANCE, Calif., Dec. 9 -- Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A.,
Inc., reported today that calendar-year-to-date sales of its Toyota Certified
Used Vehicles totaled 80,630 units, an increase of 7.8 percent compared to the
same period a year ago.  Sales for the month climbed 8.8 percent over November
1997 figures, to 6,400 vehicles.
    "Since January 1997, our sales have been up 21 out of 23 months," said
Guillermo Hysaw, TMS corporate manager, used vehicle department.  "Toyota's
certified used program is growing everyday, thanks to increased dealer
participation and customer awareness."
    The Toyota Used Vehicle program, established in 1996, provides the best
pre-owned warranty in the industry.  The warranty, from date of first use,
includes six-year, 100,000-mile powertrain coverage, as well as an optional
comprehensive 100,000-mile warranty.  And, 24-hour roadside assistance also is
provided free of charge for one year.
    All 1994-1998 Toyota models with less than 55,000 miles are eligible for
the program.  Prior to sale, each vehicle receives a rigorous 128-point
inspection of all mechanical and safety functions, as well as overall
appearance considerations.
