Castrol Becomes Exclusive Motor Oil Supplier to 63 Florida Midas Franchises; Seven-Year Agreement One of the Largest of Its Kind

WAYNE, N.J.--Dec. 30, 1998--Castrol North America, Inc., an international leader in motor oil, has signed a seven-year sales and promotional agreement with Automotive Service Centers, Inc. (ASCI), an operator of 63 Midas service centers throughout the state of Florida.
The deal, announced today by Dave Fifield, Castrol Sales Development Director - Installer/Wholesale, is one of the largest co-branded promotional agreements ever signed between Castrol and an automotive service franchise operator. It stipulates that ASCI will exclusively sell Castrol products at its current store locations and future branded service and repair concepts.
As a feature of the agreement, Castrol products will be exclusively sold at ASCI's Midas service centers in 21 Florida counties: Alachua, Broward, Citrus, Clay, Collier, Duval (Jacksonville), Hernando, Hillsborough, Manatee, Marion, Martin, Lee, Levy, Palm Beach, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Sarasota, Stuart, St. Johns and St. Lucie counties. Additionally, joint consumer promotions will be implemented at all 63 Midas service centers.
"Adding such a large network of Midas franchises in Florida further increases Castrol's visibility and distribution in the southeastern United States," Fifield said. "The agreement with ASCI is part of Castrol's continuing effort to establish partnerships with premier installer franchises throughout the United States."
With approximately 400 employees and $39 million in annual sales, Clearwater-based ASCI is the second largest network of Midas franchise locations in the United States. In October of this year, ASCI announced its acquisition of 55 Midas franchise locations and the company has since added an additional net 8 Midas shops to its network.
"Partnering with Castrol, a top-quality brand with a reputation for high performance, is part of our ongoing commitment to provide customers with the highest level of service available," said Steven A. Uiterwyk, Chief Executive Officer of ASCI.
