BAT Electrobike Announces Grand Opening in LA In Conjunction with BAT Shareholders MeetingCHULA VISTA, Calif., Feb. 8 -- BAT International's (OTC Bulletin Board: BAAT) subsidiary, Electrobike (http://www.ride1.com), will be having a grand opening of its new showroom and headquarters on February 26, l999. The showroom is located in the first power plant built by Thomas Edison in Los Angeles. This historic building was constructed in 1901 and frequently visited by Edison. It was renovated in 1980 into commercial offices and artist lofts and is now called the "Brewery Complex." The 3000 square foot Electrobike showroom contains elegant steel sculptured ramps designed around artful displays of cycling elegance. It is a fitting tribute to Edison that Electrobike will be constructing the next generation of 2 and 3 wheel electric powered transportation at this site. A press conference is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on the 26th of February in addition to a ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening celebration. Numerous local dignitaries and celebrities are planning to attend this event and the event is open to the public. Electric bicycles will be available for rides and drives. All new models will be on display. In addition to being Electrobike's US showroom, the Brewery Complex will also house the US manufacturing facilities Electrobike products. This facility will also be the location where Electrobike will build a set of limited edition collector series electric cycles, including the "Miripolski Motorcanvas" and "Motor Sculpture." In addition to these business functions, the Brewery Complex will warehouse shipments of electric bicycles from our joint venture partner in China, Suzhou Machinery Holding (see press release 1/15/99). The timing of Electrobike's grand opening in LA on February 26th is designed to allow BAT shareholders to attend the Electrobike open house in conjunction with BAT's annual Shareholders Meeting on Saturday, February 27th in San Diego. LA and San Diego are only a two-hour drive apart, which enables interested stockholders to conveniently attend both events. The BAT Shareholders Meeting will be held at the Bahia Hotel in San Diego (just north of the airport) starting at 10 am. BAT urges all shareholders to attend both events. BAT is arranging busing of pre-registered stockholders for a tour of its automobile and truck manufacturing plant in Otay Mesa, Mexico (see press release 1/21/99).
