Women's Day at the Chicago Auto Show Features Manufacturer Seminars
    CHICAGO, Feb. 15 -- Women's Day at the 91st Chicago Auto Show
will be held Tuesday, Feb. 16, offering all women a $2 discount off the full
admission price and a series of seminars on the purchase, lease, maintenance
and safety of automobiles.
    "Women purchase well over half of all auto sales so it makes perfect sense
to offer seminars that address their questions," said auto show chairman Mike
Cook.  "The idea that auto shows are about 'boys and their cars' is long gone.
These seminars are a big hit."
    The following is the schedule of activities for Women's Day at the Chicago
Auto Show:

    Nissan's "What to Expect Guide to Car Seat Safety" (11 a.m., 2 p.m.)
Heidi Murkoff, one of the co-authors of the "What to Expect" parenting series,
will be at the Chicago Auto Show during Woman's Day.  Ms. Murkoff can provide
information on how to choose, properly install, and use the right child seat
to help protect children in the car.

    Jeep's Off-Road Driving 101 (Noon, 2:30 p.m., and 6 p.m.)
    *  Basic Equipment you need to off-road
    *  Tricks of the Trade
    *  How to locate approved off road trails in your area

    "Power of the Purse" (3:30 p.m.)
    Hyundai's Donna Kane will lead a workshop designed to increase women's
knowledge of car-buying and servicing.  Women learn how to prepare for and
manage the car buying and maintenance processes.

    Do the Buckle/Vehicle Safety (12:30 p.m., 3 p.m., 6:30 p.m.)
    Making a special appearance in the Chrysler-Plymouth display is the
DaimlerChrysler "Do the Buckle" safety tour.  This interactive, hands-on
exhibit features a colorful Plymouth Voyager, MTV style music video and
demonstrations utilizing an inflated airbag, cutaway of steering wheel, and
fun science experiments.

    Pontiac Bonneville Driver Personalization (4 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.)
    Learn about some of the unique driver personalization features on the 2000
Pontiac Bonneville from one of the women who helped design it.

    Vehicle Care and Maintenance at Dodge (1:30 p.m., 5 p.m., 8 p.m.)
    Underhood basics to ensure safe vehicle operation and long life.

    Chrysler/Plymouth's Basics of Vehicle Financing:  "Should I Lease or
should I buy?" (1 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m.)
    *  Compare leasing and purchasing
    *  Help understand terminology used in leasing
    *  Payment comparisons on two vehicles

    The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation
    The foundation's Race for the Cure van will be on display at the Ford
stand.  Volunteers will educate attendees on the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer
Foundation and the Race for the Cure.

    "Shopping for a Car on the Internet"  (throughout the day)
    Shop more than 400 dealers in Chicagoland without leaving the comfort of
your keyboard.  Learn to surf the web for cars at the DealerLocator.com
Internet Pavilion at the Chicago Auto Show.

    DaimlerChrysler Women Talk Cars  (throughout the day)
    As further reach out on Women's Day, DaimlerChrysler will have 10-15 women
from all areas and all levels of the company on hand to informally talk to
consumers about different vehicles.  Each DaimlerChrysler woman will be
standing by a vehicle that she helped to design, engineer or bring to market.
