Meritor Automotive Sunroof Highlighted on the GM: Suburban, Tahoe, and Yukon

    NEW YORK, March 30 -- Meritor Automotive Inc.,
announced today that its Roof Systems business has been awarded the sole
sunroof contract for General Motors Corp.'s 2000 full size sport utility
vehicles, the Suburban, Tahoe, and Yukon.  The Chevrolet Suburban and GMC
Yukon show vehicles are being featured today at the New York Auto Show in New
York City.
    Each vehicle will offer a Meritor slide-and-tilt, electric sunroof with
one-touch open capability.  The Meritor sunroof features a number of
innovations, including: an aluminum extruded housing, fewer components than
competitive designs for greater reliability, and an integrated sunshade and
wind deflector.  These units are being shipped from Meritor's plant in
Brighton, Mich. to Janesville, Wis. and Silao, Mexico where they are installed
into vehicles as completed assemblies.
