Say Hello to Hyundai's New Sport Ute "Santa Fe"

Hyundai's New Sport Utility Vehicle to be Named "Santa Fe"

Hyundai Motor America has decided to adopt the name of its concept sport 
utility vehicle as its permanent name when they roll out the "Santa Fe" in 
the spring of 2000 (as a 2001 year model).
 
The Santa Fe concept was first introduced at the January 1999 at the Detroit 
International Auto Show.  As standard equipment, the Santa Fe will feature a 
four-cylinder engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission and two-wheel 
drive,  all at a very affordable starting price.  The Santa Fe will offer an 
optional 24-valve V6 engine, an optional electronically controlled, fully 
adaptive four-speed automatic transmission, and an optional electronically 
controlled all-wheel drive system with viscous coupling.

Designed for the U.S. market by Hyundai's California Design Center, the
Santa Fe will combine the size, comfort and luxury of a traditional compact
SUV with the agility and car-like ride of a modern mini-SUV.  It will be both
larger and roomier than such Asian competitors as the Honda CRV, Toyota RAV4
and Subaru Forester, and will also offer more engine/driveline combinations.

A key feature of the Santa Fe will be The Hyundai Advantage, "America's Best 
Warranty", which includes limited five-year, 50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper 
coverage; a 10-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty for the original owner; 
and toll-free 24-hour roadside assistance for five years (unlimited mileage).

Pricing for the vehicle has not yet been announced.
