Isuzu Charges Into the Summer Selling Season

American Isuzu Motors Inc. continues its strong performance in the hotly contested SUV market segment.
Rodeo sales are soaring with an impressive month-to-month gain of almost 40 percent, putting Isuzu's most popular vehicle up 14 percent over last year's sales volume. Sales of Amigo gained 55 percent compared with the same time last year and rose an impressive 169 percent over last year to date, indicating a high level of customer enthusiasm for the new hard top version of the popular truck.
Isuzu's Hombre saw sales rise 15 percent year to date, showing that Isuzu's small pickup is very competitive in this segment, and Trooper continues to gain ground in the luxury compact SUV segment with its year to date sales increase of 6 percent.
"This is a fiercely competitive market segment, yet we continue to increase our sales and meet our '99 objectives," said Bob Reilly, AIMI's senior vice president, COO, SUV. "I think that shows our Partnership Plan is engaging our dealers and our customers are responding to the value of a great product backed by exceptional service."
Total retail sales rose 9 percent year to date with 3,278 more vehicles sold this year than last. American Isuzu Motors' sport-utility vehicles are distributed through a network of 550 dealers across the United States.
