Pep Boys Offers Gift Ideas for Father's Day

PHILADELPHIA--June 10, 1999--Does that loveable lugnut in your house have one-too-many ties hanging in the closet?
Would he rather pour over auto parts catalogs instead of sports magazines? Pep Boys' Senior Vice President, Bob Brann offers these suggestions for Father's Day gifts this year.
"The right tool makes all the difference, whether you're working under the hood or around the house," notes Brann. "For the man who loves to get his hands dirty, tools and tool kits are indispensable. Whether it's a plier set, a lighted screwdriver or 65-piece to 300-piece tool sets, you need to use the right tool for the right job."
"Drivers often don't think about the need for emergency repair kits or battery booster cables until they're stuck on the side of the road. These are excellent ideas for Father's Day gifts."
"Booster pacs are another good idea. They can be used to power auxiliary electric equipment around the house and can give your car an emergency jump start, if it's needed. And if you need the trunk space, you can store booster cables, booster pacs and emergency kits in roof storage systems."
Many Dads are race fans, Brann notes. For him, there's a wide variety of officially licensed NASCAR merchandise, including diecast key chains, stickers, license plate frames, 1/64 scale model cars, NASCAR trading cards and hats.
"Summer's here and it's cruising weather," Brann observes. "Many owners are very conscious of their vehicle's appearance. That's where glass cleaner and sealant will help make Dad's car shine like new. Complete car care kits also come in handy to make cars look like they just rolled off the showroom floor."
"To help make sure cars run as good as they look, engine, fuel and transmission treatments should be used on a regular basis, too. A little preventive maintenance can save owners from having to make big expenditures later."
"Finally, once Dad's baby looks and runs in top condition, it often attracts a lot of admirers. To make sure they don't get the wrong idea, steering wheel locks help deter vehicle theft."
"These are just some ideas for gifts for Dad. Pep Boys carries thousands of name-brand parts and accessories all year-round. I guess you could say that this Father's Day, Pep Boys will be the place where `Cars Like Us, but Dads Will Love Us.'"
