Norton Motorcycles Announces Dealers and Distributors and Motorcycle Development ProgressMINNEAPOLIS -- Norton Motorcycles, Inc. continues on track to launch a line of high performance motorcycles. Norton announced that it has selected fourteen distributors worldwide. The distributors are located as follows: ten in Europe, one in Asia, two in the Middle East and one in Australia. Norton will manage its own distribution network in the United States and has appointed its initial seven dealers. John Fiebelkorn, Norton's Managing Director of Sales and Marketing, stated that Norton's strategy was to partner only with dealers and distributors that could deliver outstanding service to Norton's retail customers. He added that each of these organizations meets that requirement. Norton also reported that when complete, the Norton distribution network will be comprised of approximately fifty U.S. dealers and twenty international distributors. The Company also reported that the V-8 Nemesis engine had generated 170 brake horsepower (BHP) at 7,700 revolutions per minute (RPMs). The V-8 engine is targeted for horsepower exceeding 200 BHP at 12,000 RPMs. Al Melling, owner of Norton's independent engineering and design firm, stated that the recent test results point to achievement of the brake horsepower goal. The Nemesis is designed to be the world's fastest production motorcycle.
