Metallic Power Web Site Teaches a New Way to Recycle; Educates On What It Takes to Make Clean Power Practical

SAN DIEGO--July 13, 1999--Metallic Power Inc., the leader in developing rapidly refuelable power sources that reuse zinc, announced today the launching of its Web site, www.metallicpower.com.
"The Metallic Power website educates visitors and highlights the benefits of making clean power practical using zinc/air fuel cells," said Dr. Jeff Colborn, chief executive officer of Metallic Power. "A plethora of information showcases the technology and its various applications, our team members working to make the Metallic Power vision a reality and the strategic business partners that share our commitment to clean, efficient and affordable power."
Information can be accessed concerning fields of use for zinc/air fuel cells, future applications, developmental challenges and field tests scheduled for the year 2000. Detailed diagrams demonstrate how the fuel cell and the recycling/refueling system operate. In Metallic Power's new corporate video, environmentalist Ed Begley, Jr., speaks about the advantages of using zinc/air fuel cells versus conventional lead/acid batteries and internal combustion engines.
The Web site introduces Metallic Power's new logo, a corporate mark which drives home the "recycling" benefit of zinc/air technology. Visitors also meet the Metallic Power technological team and learn about the company's history, mission, strategy and employment opportunities.
Metallic Power Inc., founded in 1995 and based in Carlsbad, Calif., near San Diego, is the leader in developing rapidly refuelable electric power sources that reuse zinc -- the new economical clean fuel for electric vehicles and power systems. Strategic partners developing prototypes using Metallic Power's technology include Toro, Textron, ABB and the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Potential markets include electric utility cart fleets and industrial equipment such as forklifts and lawn mowers; stationary back-up generators for the telecommunications industry; auxiliary power for the trucking industry; on-road electric motor scooters, and finally, electric delivery fleets and electric cars. Eventually, zinc/air technology will replace portable gasoline generators.
Metallic Power has patents pending or in preparation for new air cathodes, electrolyte management, sealed replaceable refueling cartridges, regeneration equipment design and zinc fueling technology. For more information, visit www.metallicpower.com.
