TOURING: Brazilian driver Ingo Hoffmann wins 4th round of the South American Touring Car Championship
14 July 1999
Brazilian driver Ingo Hoffmann won the 4th round of the South American Touring Car Championship in Rosário, Argentina. Hoffmann drove his BMW 325i to the chequered flag using all his experience. Cacá Bueno started on pole and was leading followed by Flavio Nonô Figueiredo (BMW325i) and Ingo Hoffmann. Beto Giorgi, rookie, lost control of his Vectra and the pace car had to enter the track. Nonô overtook Bueno's Peugeot 406 under yellow but let Bueno retake the lead when he was told by his team manager that he overtook under yellow. Despite this, Nonô had to make a stop&go and arrived 10th at the chequered flag. At the restart, Ingo was smarter and overtook Cacá. Third was Emiliano Spataro with his Peugeot 406, followed by Osvaldo Cocho Lopez and the Alfa 156 and Fernando Croceri with BMW 325i. Marc Zimmermann The Autochannel
