Trooper and Rodeo Lead Second-Half Isuzu Sales Surge

CERRITOS, Calif.--(AutomotiveWire)--Aug. 5, 1999--American Isuzu Motors Inc.'s SUV division starts the second-half with a surge in Trooper sales, the best net-of-fleet sales for the new-design Rodeo since launch, and continued strong demand for Amigo.
Trooper, Isuzu's popular luxury compact SUV, July 1999 net-of-fleet sales is up 21 percent over June 1999 as well as showing a 21 percent increase over July 1998 sales. Rodeo, Isuzu's best- selling vehicle, July 1999 net-of-fleet sales are up 7 percent over June 1999. And Amigo's net-of-fleet sales are running nearly double that of last year.
"The Isuzu Rodeo made impressive gains in July," noted Mark Darling, vice president SUV marketing, "in spite of a competitor's launch campaign targeting it."
"The SUV market is very competitive and is getting more so," said Bob Reilly, Isuzu's senior vice president, chief operating officer, SUV, "yet we're still on target for '99. And our strong showing at the start of the second-half sets the stage for an exceptional third quarter charge in what has traditionally been some of our best selling months of the year."
