Women in Communications of Detroit Welcomes Julie Hamp/VP Saturn

September Meeting with Featured Speaker Julie Hamp, Vice President of Corporate Communications for Saturn
    DETROIT, Sept. 15 -- Julie Hamp, Vice President of Corporate Communications 
for Saturn Corporation and Director of Internal Communications for GM North 
American Car Group, will speak at the Women in Communications (WIC) of Detroit 
Meeting on Thursday, September 23, 1999.

     The event will be held at the Marriott Hotel in Southfield,
27033 Northwestern Highway.  The cost for members is $25, non-members pay $35.
To reserve a seat, call the WIC of Detroit hotline at 248-652-1460.  Parking
is free.  Registration begins at 5:30 p.m., dinner and program are scheduled
for 6 to 8 p.m.

    Hamp will share the expertise and experience that helped her build
Saturn's corporate image and awareness and will show communicators how to
formulate strategies to help market themselves.

    In her dual role, Hamp provides counsel to leadership, formulates public
relations strategies, oversees team members and retailer communications on
Saturn Corporate, and monitors brand and product issues.  She helps build the
company's reputation through community, media, and government relations, and
develops, implements and evaluates a coordinated communication system in 13
assembly plants involving engineering and headquarters personnel.  Hamp, who
managed the global launch of the new Cadillac Seville, began her GM career 17
years ago.

    Founded in 1909, The Association for Women in Communications is one of the
nation's oldest and largest professional communications organizations.  The
organization has more than 7,000 professional members in chapters across the
country in diverse backgrounds, including advertising, communications,
education, film, print and broadcast journalism, public relations and
publishing.  WIC of Detroit was honored at the WIC National Conference for the
third year running with awards for Outstanding Overall Progress and
Outstanding First Amendment/Freedom of Information Programming.  The Detroit
Chapter celebrates its 61st anniversary this year.
