New BRAKEthrough Anti-theft Device from Lawman Armor

New BRAKEthrough Anti-theft Device from Lawman Armor Corporation Puts the Brakes on Auto Theft
BERWYN, Pa., Sept, 16 -- A vehicle is stolen about every
twenty seconds, making auto theft the #1 property crime in the United States.
Approximately 1.5 million vehicles were stolen last year alone. Surprisingly,
the very devices originally designed to combat auto-theft are now being found
to perpetuate the problem by giving car owners a false sense of security.
Steering wheel locks, the most widely used anti-theft device, rely solely
on the strength of the steering wheel which, in the last ten years, has become
one of the weakest parts of the car. Most steering wheels are now made of
hollow metal and foam padding, designed to easily bend out of the driver's way
in an accident. As a result, today's steering wheels can be cut apart in
seconds using nothing more than a common hacksaw or bolt cutter. Thieves
simply remove the locked device and drive away with the car.
Now a new product has been developed that puts the brakes on auto theft by
locking one of the strongest parts of the car -- the steel brake pedal. This
breakthrough concept has lead to the first anti-theft device available on the
market designed to stop auto theft, rather than just deter it.
The UNBRAKEABLE AUTOLOCK is the only anti-theft device that takes into
consideration the design of the lock and the design of the car. The combined
strength of the steel brake pedal and the solid steel AutoLock makes the
device virtually impossible to remove from the car. Once the AutoLock is in
place, the brake pedal cannot be depressed, and the car cannot be stolen.
"We have built the first anti-theft device that relies on the brake --
the same mechanism we count on to stop a two ton vehicle moving at speeds in
excess of 60 mph," said Robert Vito, President of the Lawman Armor
Corporation. "AutoLock is unquestionably the consumers' strongest defense
against auto theft."
The AutoLock is engaged by attaching the device to the arm of the brake or
clutch pedal and locking it into place by pulling the handle and
simultaneously stepping on the footpad. The device has a high security, pick
resistant lock, which operates with a specially manufactured non-duplicable
key. AutoLock is constructed of hardened steel and coated with red enamel to
increase visibility. For added security, it comes with a highly visible
steering wheel cover and window decals.
The AutoLock is designed to capitalize on a breakthrough in automotive
safety called the "Brake Pedal Shift Interlock" (BPSI), a factory installed
component featured in cars built after 1990. The BPSI requires the brake
pedal to be depressed before the vehicle can be put into gear. Since the
AutoLock locks the brake, it cannot be depressed, rendering the vehicle
undriveable.
Additionally, the AutoLock may be attached to the clutch in manual cars
instead of the brake because of its comparable size and design. When applied
to the clutch, the AutoLock capitalizes on the "Clutch Pedal Starter
Interlock" (CPSI), a factory installed safety feature in vehicles built after
1990 with manual transmissions. The CPSI requires the clutch pedal to be
depressed before the vehicle can even be started, much less put into gear,
making the vehicle virtually impossible to steal.
Because the size, strength and dimensions of the brake pedal are
standardized in most vehicles, the one-size AutoLock fits most cars, trucks,
sport utility vehicles and vans, whereas other devices require different sizes
and versions of their product to accommodate different types of vehicles.
AutoLock offers customers a $1,000 reimbursement for their insurance
deductible if a vehicle is stolen with the AutoLock installed. This is one of
the largest and most comprehensive product guarantees of any anti-theft device
on the market.

    UNBRAKEABLE BOATLOCK
Lawman Armor Corporation also offers the UNBRAKEABLE BOATLOCK, the first
anti-theft device of its kind for boats on the market. BoatLock is designed
to prevent the theft of the boat, the propeller and the outdrive. The
BoatLock is engineered to lock around the propeller and outdrive, immobilizing
the boat. The propeller and outdrive may also be locked to the trailer or
boat hull, preventing them from being stolen. The BoatLock is made of
hardened steel with a high security, pick resistant lock and red vinyl coating
to increase visibility.

    Lawman Armor Corporation
The UNBRAKEABLE AUTOLOCK(TM) and The UNBRAKEABLE BOATLOCK(TM) are marketed
exclusively by Lawman Armor Corporation. The company was established in 1997
to develop and manufacture the next generation in anti-theft protection
products. The UNBRAKEABLE AUTOLOCK is officially endorsed by Rusty Wallace --
driver of the NASCAR(R) #2 car. For more information on these products or on
